Hello. Iam planning a RTW trip (backpacking it) beginning 2004 (I have to wait for my son to graduate College). If you would like to have someone to correspond with while you are on the road, Id love to hear about your adventures and experiences, good and bad. It would be good information for my future planning. I will return the favor once I'm on the road. If your ever traveling through South Carolina, USA your welcome to stay a night or two in my home town of Aiken, SC. This is also a favor I would expect to be returned when Aim traveling through your home town. Have a great time, Check out my website for more information on me and my life. http://hometown.aol.com/thmbevan/

Marie: I have been visiting your Web sites. Very cool. Thanks for putting up the information. My name is Rob and I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I have done a little travel with two trips to India, once in Europe and across Canada. In the year 2003 (that sounds kinda weird eh? "the year 2003") I will be taking my whole crew on a six month trip around the world. My crew is my family: Wife (Barb 40 something), John (son 12), Kelly (daughter 10) and Joey (son 5 tomorrow). The kids have never travelled before but I haul them through the bush all the time so getting dirty and picking off ticks, swatting mosquitoes, and peeing wherever is natural for them. Like you I like going overland. We will be heading out to England then (flying to save time) to Turkey. From there goof around Syria and Jordan and who knows what else and then back to Turkey to go overland to India via Iran and Pakistan. Loaf around the nice spots in India and Sri Lanka and then haul ass down to Thailand to set up base so we can tour around S.E. Asia at our leisure for maybe three months. On your travels did you happen to come across- and actually remember- how much a one-way ticket from Thailand to Canada/USA is? I signed up for your e-mail list today and look forward to hearing about your travels. Have fun eh. And thanks again for setting up your Web sites with travelogues. Regards from the prairies, Rob

Maribel Silvershield is Marie's great-aunt Doats. Being a senior citizen and new to the Internet, she can't seem to get a reliable connection to the website. So, her niece Peggy (Marie's aunt) thought it would be best if she gets the dispatches delivered directly to her by email. She's a world traveler and an adventurous sort of person herself, so we wonder if it might be in the blood.

Marie: I enthusiastically read your journal about your overland with Dragoman about 2 years ago. It was a major help for me planning my RTW & decided to do a trip with Encounter (Wish I'd gone with Dragoman!). I did the Istanbul to Cairo to Kathmandu from Sept. 99 to Jan 00. Very difficult...I'd never do another again! But, I then continued on my RTW (with planes!) to China, Japan, Indonesia & Australia. Got back Nov. 00 & am now planning my next big adventure. I'd like to hear more about your trip to SA aboard a freighter.... Thanks for sharing your adventures with all of us!

Just read your Botswana adventure and loved it! I am heading there and to Namibia as well over Christmas time for 6 weeks. I have booked a Dragoman tour for 19 nights and intended to try and see some of Namibia and West Botswana for the remaining three weeks I am there. Would it be best to do an organised tour for this or not (ie try and use the public transport etc?)I would be a "budget" travller if a classification is needed! Your assistance if possible is greatly appreciated.
